OstroVit Taurine 300 g - a valuable source of a precious compound

Taurine - 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid - organic chemical compound, which is a biogenic amino acid. It is a substance classified as a beta-amino acid which, unlike alpha-amino acids, do not form peptide bonds, and thus - proteins, which makes the compound referred to as a non-protein amino acid.

The highest amounts of taurine can be found in the heart muscle, as well as in skeletal muscle, brain, retina and platelets. The substance can be synthesized in the body from sulfur amino acids - cysteine and methionine, but its endogenous production is insufficient to meet the body's needs. Therefore, it is recommended to supply taurine to the body also from outside, along with the daily menu - the compound can be found, among others in fish, seafood, dried seaweed or meat, or in the form of dietary supplements.

Taurine, due to its properties, is very popular among physically active people, which is why the preparation containing the compound is recommended especially among athletes.

The product has strong hygroscopic properties (strongly absorbs moisture). The formation of clumping or uniform (compact) consistency is not a sign of loss of product properties. In this case, the product should be shredded again.

About the labeling of allergens in product ingredients

We would like to draw your attention to important information regarding product labeling, especially in light of the growing issue of allergies in both children and adults. In accordance with European Union legislation, which came into effect in 2014, there is a list of 14 allergens that must be clearly labeled on the packaging of food products. These allergens include eggs, milk, fish, crustaceans, mollusks, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, gluten, soybeans, celery, mustard, lupin, and sulfites. If any of these allergens are present in the product, they must be highlighted separately from other text.

However, there is an important clarification we would like to emphasize. In cases where the product you are purchasing may have come into accidental contact with other allergens (cross-contamination), manufacturers may voluntarily provide information about the potential risk of allergen presence. Cross-contamination can occur at various stages, including during product manufacturing, transportation, storage, and food preparation.

Therefore, if you find a label on the packaging that reads "May contain...," "Produced in a facility that processes other ingredients containing allergens," or a similar notification, it does not necessarily mean that the specific allergen is part of the product's ingredients. This warning is for your safety and serves as a reminder of potential risk for those who have allergies.

It's worth noting that, since this labeling is voluntary, the absence of such labeling on a product does not guarantee the complete absence of cross-contamination with allergens. Similarly, the presence of a notification does not necessarily mean that allergens are mandatory ingredients in the product.

We recommend carefully reading the information on the packaging and following the usage recommendations for products. Your health and safety are important to us.
